It’s Your Money. Let’s Respect It.
For nearly a decade, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office budget grew in a slow, steady, and predictable way. From 2011 through 2018, spending increased modestly, rising from roughly $14 million to just under $20 million. That pattern changed dramatically once the current sheriff took office. Since then, the requested budget has ballooned from about $20 million to more than $35 million, an increase of roughly 75 percent in just a few years. The sharpest increases came after the COVID period, not during it, with no return to fiscal restraint.
We created this interactive chart to help residents clearly visualize just how much the current sheriff has blown through the budget compared to past administrations. Budgets are moral documents, and this one shows misplaced priorities. Randolph County deserves responsible leadership, transparency, and a sheriff who puts deputies and public safety ahead of unchecked spending.
